Tuesday, February 5th Spelling Update
Inside of your child’s spelling duo-tang you will notice some changes. All of their spelling work from Week 1 up until Week 9 has been taken out and stapled (check the agendas). This can be for your files at home. There is a paper enclosed that has a list of words that your child should now know how to read and spell successfully. Continued practice of these words nightly will help increase and familiarize your child’s knowledge of words, letter sounds, and help them with their writing.
New spelling words will continue to be added to your child’s
duo tang with the same expectations as before (completed and returned by Monday
mornings). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

On Monday, your child will be sent home new spelling words as usual. These spelling words go along with what we are learning about in reading right now as they are the words that are used when asking questions (who, what, where, when and how).
Also, just a reminder to continue to play the "Friends, Acquaintances, and Strangers" Board Game with your child. The spelling words are printed in boxes on purpose so that you can cut them out and create your own word cards. Your child should be able to read these words AND be able to spell them to you as well. You can put these word cards inside an envelope or bag and attach it to the spelling or keep it at home for practice every night.
